The IASA Conference 2022 Local Committee is delighted to welcome you to the IASA 2022 Conference Archives of the Future: Open, Sustainable and Equitable.

We are planning everything to welcome you to Mexico City. We will try to make you feel as if you were at home and we will try to ensure that, in addition to participating in the Conference, you will be able to get to know a part of the diversity and cultural richness offered by Mexico. The Fonoteca Nacional, called "the home of the sounds of Mexico" and created in 2008 will be the venue for the IASA Conference from 26-29 September 2022.

The Fonoteca Nacional de México is located in the old neighbourhood of Coyoacán, in one of the oldest streets of Mexico City: Francisco Sosa. The Spanish conquistadors settled along Francisco Sosa street; but over the centuries Coyoacán became a unique cultural area of the Mexican capital. Walking through the quarter you can find Frida Kahlo's house, today converted into a museum, and also emblematic places such as the Museo de Culturas Populares, the Museo de la Acuarela, the Federico Reyes Heroles House of Culture and, naturally, the central square of Coyoacán: cobblestone streets that have existed for centuries. Also you could visit the Mercado de Coyoacán.

Located in the south of the capital, Coyoacán is very close to Ciudad Universitaria, the large 176-hectare campus that is home to the city's most vibrant student and academic life. San Angel, another nearby neighbourhood, is a place of museums such as the Casa Estudio Diego Rivera-Frida Kahlo and the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo Carrillo Gil. It is a tourist area where there are craft bazaars and several well-known bookstores. Coyoacán and San Ángel are part of a large tourist area with numerous hotels nearby.

The culture that is still alive around the Fonoteca Nacional is the one that remembers the great artists who have been residents: Salvador Novo, Frida Kahlo, Emilio el Indio Fernández, Dolores del Río, León Trotsky, Diego Rivera and many others.
